This Chlorine Dioxide kit can be used to verify the level of chlorine dioxide in a water sample. Chlorine Dioxide is a very popular active ingredient for sanitization and disinfection. This kit is essential for any application requiring secondary validation and comes with approximately 60-75 tests. Applications include cleaning, food processing, disinfectant testing, cooling towers, environmental cleaning. Recommended range: .05 ppm ClO2 - 100 ppm Each drop is 0.5, 1.0 , or 5.0 ppm depending on the initial sample size. 1 mL Sample: 1 drop = 5 ppm as ClO2 5 mL Sample: 1 drop = 1 ppm as ClO2 10 mL Sample: 1 drop = 0.5 ppm as ClO2 INSTRUCTIONS: Add 10 drops of Potassium Iodide 10% (PI1410) to the vial. Add 10 drops of Citric Acid and swirl to mix. Select sample size for drop equivalency. Sample can either be 1, 5, or 10 mL. Add sample to the vial and swirl to mix. For 1 mL or 5 mL samples, use the syringe. A yellow color indicates available ClO2. Add 2 drops of Starch Indicator Solution 0.5% one drop at a time while swirling. Sample should turn blueblack. Add Sodium Thiosulfate Solution one drop at a time while swirling. Count the number of drops until the sample just turns from blue-black to colorless. Multiply number of drops by chosen equivalency. This kit comes with all needed components and reagents to perform this titration. INTERFERENCES: All oxidizable substances such as Organic Matter, Sulfides and Nitrites, are positive interferences. Metals, namely copper, can stop or slow the chemical reaction.
